We would like to invite you to the next ACA-MODES workshop which will be held at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences on 26th of November from 10:00 to 14:00.

The workshop includes six interesting talks on the topics of optimization-based control and dimensioning of hybrid energy systems, and possibilities for networking during a joint lunch break. For this event, we are also happy to announce two talks by guest speakers with expertise in optimization-based control in an industrial and commercial context. All talks will be presented in English.

The workshop program:

Workshop session 1 (10:00-11:30)

  • Angelika Altmann-Dieses (ACA-MODES, University of Applied Sciences Karlsruhe, Germany) – Welcome
  • Thomas Besselmann (guest speaker, FHNW Muttenz, Switzerland) – Power Meets Computation
  • Christian Braasch (ACA-MODES, University of Applied Sciences Koblenz, Germany) – Implementation and Optimization of a MPC for a CCHP system
  • Parantapa Sawant (ACA-MODES, University of Applied Sciences Offenburg, Germany) – Experimental Demonstration of Optimal Scheduling of a CHP System with Economic-MPC

Lunch break, networking (11:30-12:30)

Workshop session 2 (12:30-14:00)

  • Bratislav Svetozarevic (guest speaker, Urban Energy Systems Lab, Dübendorf, Switzerland) – Deep reinforcement learning for building energy and occupant comfort control: Examples and scaling potential
  • Sonja Kallio (ACA-MODES, INSA Strasbourg, France) – Nature-Inspired Intelligence in Multi-Objective Optimization of a Solar Energy System
  • Adrian Bürger (ACA-MODES, University of Applied Sciences Karlsruhe, Germany) – Coordinated operation of distributed, MPC-operated energy systems in the ACA-MODES project
  • Open discussion

Due to the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19, we are currently planning to have a hybrid meeting with both the possibility to attend the workshop virtually and (for a limited amount of participants) to attend the workshop in-person at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA). The workshop will be free of charge for all participants.

The registration is still open for online participation until November 25, 2021 and can be done by filling the following form.
